This interactive application is created for visual exploration of land uplift and the consequent raised shorelines from 10000 years before past to the present day. Issues a user should be aware of and understand are

  • The used present day digital elevation models (DEM) contain surface forms, which did not exist when the land was submerged.
  • In some locations close to the present day shoreline appear triangular "islands". These exist due to quality issues of bathymetric (sea bottom) data and are visual artefacts in the modelling process.
  • Although the application allows for zooming and shows very detailed shorelines at exact points in time, the user should be aware of the inherent uncertainties in the model and visualization.
